What Are Dermal Fillers and Why Do We Use Them?
As we age, our skin loses hydration and facial fat. The skin’s natural elasticity diminishes due to decreased collagen levels which leads to the formation of wrinkles and folds. The most mobile facial areas are the first to show signs of aging. Over time, skin begins to sag and expressive wrinkles appear, which are harder to smooth out. Dermal fillers are a safe and effective way to smooth out these problem areas and combat signs of skin aging.
Dermal fillers can be utilised in various ways to enhance different parts of the face. These injections restore the skin’s youthful appearance by replacing lost volume and making it look firmer. They can also enhance natural contours and define facial features. Dermal fillers are rich in hyaluronic acid, which provides moisture and boosts skin hydration.
How Long Do They Last?
Dermal fillers are not permanent. Their longevity depends on the type of filler, the location of placement and the individual patient. On average, fillers last between 6 to 18 months.
What Can be Treated?
Cheeks: By placing filler in the cheeks, we create a subtle lift that can improve the appearance of marionette lines, nasolabial folds and tear troughs, while also contouring the cheeks.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty (Nose Filler): Non-surgical rhinoplasties use fillers to enhance the nose’s appearance without surgery. This can correct hooked noses, straighten humps, define the nasal bridge and improve asymmetry.
Lips: Lip filler can increase volume, reshape, or enhance your current lip shape, achieving your desired outcome.
Tear Trough: This advanced aesthetic treatment improves hollowness and signs of aging and tiredness around the eyes. Filler in this area can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dark circles.
Chin Augmentation: Chin augmentation with fillers elongates or protrudes the chin, enhancing and conturing the face.
Jawline Slimming: Filler placement in the jawline creates a chiselled appearance and can reduce the visibility of jowls.
Other Areas Include: Marionette Lines (corners of the mouth), nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines)
